An Evening with Warren Gatland

Lurgan Rugby Football and Cricket Club held a gala dinner at the Seagoe hotel on Friday the 25th of May. The Keynote speaker for the evening was Mr. Warren Gatland OBE. Warren Gatland is the current Wales and British & Irish Lions head coach. Almost 400 guests attended the sell-out function and were treated to excellent food and a great night of entertainment.

Warren Gatland presented Blazers to Jacob Stockdale, Ulster/Ireland player, Lurgan Tigers Ambassador and Under-20s coach. He also presented a blazer to Jeremy Davidson who has previously played for Ulster, Ireland and the British and Irish Lions. Jeremy has recently been appointed as head coach of Brieve Rugby Club in France. Warren Gatland also presented a club blazer to Stephen Nolan whohas made over 200 senior appearances for the club, and is the only player to have won 3 Gordon West Cups in the history of the competition. Lurgan are the only club to have won 3 Gordon West Cups.

The club also presented two charitable donations to the child brain injury trust (£600) and the BR Barbarians (£600). The BR Barbarians were formed in memory of Ben Robinson, son of Peter Robinson (a member of our club) who sadly passed away with a secondary concussion while playing schools Rugby in Carrickfergus.
